At the CCS
Nationals, a triple knockout ABC Approach is used in both the
Singles and Team Events. All entrants play in
Preliminary Brackets and then depending on their finish, all
entrants advance to either an A, B or C Finals Bracket.
Based on past performance, players may be assigned an A Ranking. In the
interests of fair play, those A Ranked players are not allowed to compete in
either the B or C Finals Bracket. They will instead all advance
to the A Finals Bracket to either the ‘no loss’ or ‘one loss’
side depending on their finish in the Preliminary Bracket.
Any player who in the
last 5 years finished ‘In The Money’ in an A Finals Bracket or in the ‘Top
Three’ of the B Finals Bracket as well as those who appear on an ACS or VNEA
Masters List will be assigned an A Ranking. The Player Ranking Committee of the
CCS reserves the right to assign an A Ranking based on known ability.
Any player
who has finished in the ‘Top Eight’ of the A Finals Bracket must compete and
finish ‘Out of the Money’ two consecutive times to be removed from the A Ranked
list. Any others who compete again and finish ‘Out of the Money’ will be
removed from the A Ranked list for the following year.
At the
CCS Nationals, any team with more than one A Ranked player on
their roster will be designated as an A Ranked team. The same restriction
described above will apply.
Any use of A Rankings and Restrictions will be as
described in the Tournament Brochure for each of those Championships.
